Well Drilling

Well Drilling

Drinking Water for Your Home

I love my job. I’ve been drilling water wells for over twenty years now, and it still amazes me that we can drill a hole in the ground and get good water for drinking and irrigation. I always feel like I’m doing something important because water is something that we absolutely must have to survive.

If you live in an area where a public water supply is not available, then the water well driller is a very important person to you. I am ever more aware that the privilege of being your water well driller carries with it the responsibility of doing the very best job I can do. I know that in return for doing the very best I can, you will tell your friends and neighbors about my business, and I thank you for that.

In some areas, it is necessary or preferable to install a shallow well system. In other areas, it is necessary or preferable to install a deep well. We do both. We have the equipment needed to install shallow wells and deep wells up to 650’ deep for residential, industrial, and commercial applications. We know you will appreciate our hard work, professional approach, and dedication to quality craftsmanship.

Be sure to read about maintaining your water well system and how to guarantee that your water is safe and sanitary for your family. Thank you for considering Howard Water Systems. We look forward to working with you on the installation of your water well or water treatment system.

Drinking Water for Your Mobile Home

We invest the extra time required to mount the pump and/or tank and pressure switch in a garage or other suitable location whenever the situation allows. This protects the water system equipment from extreme weather, dust, and humidity. This is equally important for any water treatment equipment. We do custom work for custom construction projects. We've installed hundreds of water well systems at new home construction sites all over the lowcountry. Our clients include homeowners, builders, realtors, property management companies, government entities, mobile home and modular dealers, and lending institutions. We can answer your questions or provide important advice about water system requirements, permitting, and water quality.

You'll find we have a professional approach, and we're very easy to work with. If you're a contractor or have a water well installed on a property other than your own, we promise to represent you well when dealing with your client. We know that, in many cases, our work is a direct reflection of your work. In the end, we want everyone involved to be proud of the work we did.

Many or most water systems are installed in a small pump house. This particular system has two pumps for two separate homes on this lot. Additional water storage tanks and a Watts NF-10 iron and sulfur filter are installed in a storage building nearby. This system also has a well and a pellet chlorinator installed.

During freezing weather, the pumps are covered with plastic, and the lamp you see here easily prevents damage to the pumps due to freezing.

We often install water well systems on vacant lots or in the middle of a field prior to home construction or the placement of a mobile home. Electricity is not required. This 90-foot water well system will supply two mobile homes and outdoor irrigation with abundant pressure. The owner constructed a nice pump house after we completed our work. Notice one ball valve each for two homes and a separate valve for the garden. This is the Franklin-Schaffer© 1 Horse Power jet pump that we think is the best jet pump in the industry.

It is ideal when we work with the builder before the garage slab is poured so that no pipes are exposed. When these elevated homes were completed, the water system equipment was well protected from the elements and easy to access. It is important to keep the area around your water system equipment clean and free of dust, sand, and spider webs. In this situation, all of the equipment should last many years.

We do a lot of mobile homes, and we don't think anyone does them better. Some of the best mobile home dealers in the area use us for their water well installations. We take the time to do a professional, custom installation for all of our customers. On many of our mobile home installations, we mount the pump and/or tank and pressure switch under the home or under the porch. This makes protecting the pump easier and less expensive than building a pump house. And it looks much nicer than having a pump house out in the yard.

The well can be installed a long distance from the location of the pump and/or tank and pressure switch. In this particular application, a pump house would have been out of place and would have looked poorly on this very nice rural street corner. In many rural areas, every house has an old, raggy pump house stuck out in the yard that, in most cases, doesn't protect the water system from freezing or intense heat. And all those old pump houses don't add much to the neighborhood much. So we do many, or most, mobile home installations this way.

Free Water for Your Irrigation and Garden

We install water well systems that keep large and small ponds full all around the low country. If you need a water well system to supply a small pond on your property, a neighborhood pond, or a large duck pond at the hunting club, we can install an efficient water well system that delivers the amount of water you need. This particular system was installed sometime around 1995 and still yields an abundance of water for this neighborhood pond. At that time, the property manager had us install a nice fiberglass, vented cover with a heat lamp, so the system has given them uninterrupted service since.

We install water wells for every kind of pond, large and small. Pictured here are just a few places where we have installed a water well system. We can advise you on the best type of well and pumping system for your particular application.

Free Water for Commercial Irrigation Systems

This is a 300+ foot-deep well with a 4" casing. A 20-gallon bladder tank is installed out of sight behind the A/C unit, and the well casing is concealed and protected by a rock pump cover. This well supplies irrigation water for a pond at this well-landmarked physician's office. We install shallow residential irrigation wells and 4" or 6" irrigation wells for residential applications and large or small commercial requirements.

We've had the opportunity to install water well systems for irrigation at a number of schools in the local school district. In this particular application, a deep well could not be installed due to salt water intrusion, so we installed Duel Gould's© J+ jet pumps to supply the volume of water needed. These pumps with three-phase motors were neatly installed in the mechanical room, where they are protected from the elements. The pumps have three-phase control boxes with overload protection.

This installation is at a local hospital and supplies irrigation water for a large pond. This is a Gould's© Irrigator Centrifugal pump. We specified and installed the hinged fiberglass cover to protect the pump from freezing. Note the vents that we installed at the top and bottom to allow proper ventilation for motor cooling during summer weather. The simple lamp you see on the pump will supply ample heat to prevent damage to the pump during freezing temperatures.

We install wells for every size and type of athletic field and for all commercial landscape applications. This particular installation is at a city park. The well is in excess of 500 feet deep, and the submersible pump has a Berkeley© 360 volt/3 phase motor with a Pentek© deluxe control panel that provides overload protection.

We install water well systems for large-scale irrigation, geo-thermal, and golf course projects. This is one of our 6" water well installations with a Gould's® Texas Turbine vertical lineshaft pump that yields approximately 250 GPM of irrigation water for a large apartment complex. The state-of-the-art pump controller pictured here is a Gould's Aquavar® Constant Pressure Variable Speed Controller. Note the uniform concrete slab and fiberglass pump enclosure that were installed to protect this nice installation.
